Gloria Ann Deason

Gloria Thacker Deason, daughter of JoAnn Burgess & Gerald Thacker died of natural causes at her home in Bolivia, NC on July 28, 2025.

She was born on May 03, 1960, in Gadsden, Alabama where she lived with her parents, her older brother, Gerald Wayne Thacker and her younger sister, Jolie Autumn Thacker.

As an adult, Gloria eventually moved to Carolina Beach, North Carolina where she raised her children & became involved in the community. She coached her own majorette team, the Carolina Beach Marchers, was Head Coach of the Pop Warner Coastal Falcons, was involved with the Boy Scouts of America, and enjoyed fishing with the Got em on live Organization. From fishing to line dancing to being involved in her children’s activities, Gloria was full of life & brought joy to those around her.

She was a retired teacher’s assistant with the New Hanover County School System as well as a local restauranter, opening Stella Mae’s Café in Carolina Beach with her former husband Dennis Deason. Gloria impacted so many lives in so many ways throughout the years.

Gloria is survived by her partner, Michael Shapiro, her sister Jolie Autumn Thacker, daughter Aja Deason Feldbusch, son-in-law John Cody Feldbusch, son Andrew Nash Deason, daughter Alison Deason Wilky, son-in-law Garret Wilkey, and grand-children Caroline Elizabeth Wilkey and Pierce Garret Wilkey.

A memorial service for Gloria will be at a later date to be held at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service in Wilmington, North Carolina.
