Mrs. Grimes was born in Cumberland County, NC on May 29, 1936, a daughter of the late Vander and Floy Turner.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Turner.
Mrs. Grimes was retired and formerly employed by The Child Education Center of Wesley Memorial United Church, where she was a member.
The greatest joy of her life was her family, her church and the Lord. Her faith was shaped in her early teens and has remained strong to this day.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Max B. Grimes of the home; her sons, Jeff Grimes and his wife Pam, and Roger Grimes and his wife, Tamala. Five grandchildren, Walt, Emily, Hayley, Hayden and Heath, two very special honorary grandchildren, Janna Franklin Spruill and Matt Franklin. A very special niece, Debbie Franklin who has been like a daughter (always there for her with lots of love), a very caring nephew, Wayne Grimes and his wife, Sherri, and several other nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Grimes and her family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Brennan, Dr. William McNulty and her wonderful hospice team, especially Beth and Kathi. Her caregivers in her final hours were beyond extraordinary to Mrs. Grimes and her family
