Harry grew up in the close knit community of Spofford Mills, “The Mill Hill”. He had many exciting travels and adventures throughout his life. After graduating high school he joined the United States Air Force serving from 1956 to 1960 stationed in Arizona and Florida. He returned to Wilmington in the 1970’s and in 1979 began working as purchasing agent for Fox Holsum Bakery, Wilmington NC where he met his wife to be Rosemary. Leaving the bakery business he began working the next 25 years for the City of Wilmington/Cape Fear Public Utilities Authority retiring in 2012 at age 75.
However, the most important event in Harry’s life is when he rededicated his life to our living savior and was baptized on Easter Sunday in 1998. He was always eager to share what Jesus was doing in his life and he truly became a new man in Christ led out of darkness into eternal light. His prayer was to be the reflection of Jesus to all those around him.
A special thank you to Amedisys (Hospice) for their tender loving care for Harry during his last days. They are ministering servants in a great time of need.
A celebration of Harry’s life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020, 11 AM, at Coble Funeral Home, 1155 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington NC
