

James “Jim” Meyer, 81, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 24th, 2020 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. A memorial and funeral mass to celebrate his life will be held 3pm Thursday, August 6th, 2020 at Basilica Shrine of Saint Mary, Wilmington, North Carolina. Masks are required.
He was a member of the Police Department of the City of New York where he served 32 years in the Transit Police Headquarters Division. After retiring from the City of New York, he worked over 10 years at St. Francis Hospital, Roslyn, New York. He loved New York and lived in Stewart Manor for 40 years before he officially retired in Leland, North Carolina in 2008.
Jim is survived by the love of his life, Peggy Meyer, they would be celebrating 60 years of marriage this Fall. Jim is also survived by his four children and seven grandchildren whom he loved very much. He was cherished for his quick wit, sense of humor and fierce love of family.
