

She was born on October 22, 1955 in Halifax, VA, to the late James and Margaret Walker.
Jane is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 38 years, James E. Floyd, Jr.; daughters, Megan Davis (Matthew) of Raleigh, NC and Ryanne Ulrich (Louis Joseph) of Falls Church, VA; sister, Susan Graves (Keith, deceased); brother, James E. Walker, III (Ann); sister-in-law, Ann Vereen (Jack); three beloved grandchildren, Hudson James, Finley Blair, and Sydney Jane; and nieces, Ashton and Sara-Margaret Graves, Carlynn Walker, and Lindsey and Caitlin Vereen.
Jane lived most of her life at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Culpeper, VA, before moving to Wilmington in 2006. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Art Education and later received her Landscape Design Certification through George Washington University. Jane dedicated her life to raising her two daughters and travelling to places near and far with her family. She volunteered regularly at her daughters’ schools and promoted her love of the arts to children through Culpeper’s Art in the Park and Picture Lady programs. A Master Gardener who spent countless hours caring for her beautiful yard, Jane was also a skilled ceramicist and a regular at Orange Street Pottery. Her creativity and adventurous spirit permeated many aspects of her life. She loved the beach and could often be found kayaking in waters around Wilmington and travelling to Blacksburg, VA, to cheer on her beloved Virginia Tech Hokies. Jane was also a loyal and active member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. More recently, Jane loved being “Mimi” to her three young grandchildren with whom she shared her knowledge of gardening and art.
The family will receive friends from 10am-11am Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where a memorial service will begin at 11am.
