She was born in Wilmington, NC on August 25, 1940, to Alvis Rex Hardy and Mary McCandless Hardy.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alvis Rex Hardy, Mary McCandless Hardy and brother Clinton Rex Hardy and wife Jance Hardy and brother-in-law Don Croom.
Jean graduated from New Hanover High School in 1959. She loved being a mother, grandmother, and homemaker and later in life working at Cape Fear Community College. She was a member of Pine Valley Baptist Church for many years. She deeply loved her Sunday school class and pastor. They were like family to her; she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. Filling not only their bodies but their souls. She loved her high school class friends who had lunch monthly and all the Sidy Bug friends, especially Murhead. She loved spending time with the people she loved and the ones who loved her. To know her was to love her.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, William (Fred) Wells, daughter Abby Wells Ritter (Kenny Vollrath), son William Jason Wells and wife Hillary Wells, grandchildren Emily Bishop (Grant) Samson Ritter (Bella), Sierra Wells and great grandchildren Sadie Grace and Haven Elise, her lifelong best friend, wombmate and twin sister Jane Croom.
A special thank you to nurse Carol and nurse Breana.
