Jimmy Wayland Matthews

Jimmy was born on August 30, 1945 in Sampson County, NC son of the late Wayland and Elizabeth Rivenbark Matthews.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Joan Matthews; daughter, Karen Matthews; son, Todd Matthews; grandchildren: Cameron Matthews and Addison Matthews and their mother, Jennifer Matthews; brother, Gary Matthews and his wife Belinda; sister, Donna Eggert and her husband Jerry Eggert further survived by several nieces and nephews, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws and friends

Jimmy was a member of the Cape Fear Optimist Club and served as president, board of directors and ran the concession stand. He was a long time member at Wrightsboro Baptist Church served as a deacon, usher, safety team, and taught training union, enjoyed playing cards with his buddies. Long time member of Coca Cola until his retirement and was a proud member of the United States National Guard.

A visitation for Jimmy will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Wrightsboro Baptist Church, 2736 Castle Hayne Road, Wilmington, North Carolina 28401.

A Memorial Service will start at 2:00 PM with Pastor Stuart Lewis officiating.
