
John Brian Honeycutt, 59, of Wilmington, NC, passed away, Sunday, July 13, 2008, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born in Mitchell County, NC, May 8, 1949. John served in the United States Army in Germany and was currently working at IKA Works after retiring from CP&L, Sutton Plant. He was a lifelong golfer and an avid fisherman. John was known for his quick wit and his uproarious sense of humor. Surviving are three daughters, Laura Ann of the home, Holli Honeycutt of Lenoir, and Gretchen Honeycutt Byrd and husband Russell Byrd of Wilmington; a brother, Mike Honeycutt; a sister, Jackie Honeycutt Gardner, two granddaughters, Aleigha Patterson and Ivy Byrd. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel by Dr. Don Cashwell. The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 10: 00 a.m. Tuesday until the service hour. An interment service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, Spruce Pine, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries, 3441 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC, 28557, or a charity of one's choice.
