

John Edward "Johnny" Blake, Jr., of Wilmington, NC passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 10, 2014, surrounded by his family and close friends. Johnny was born on August 14, 1948 to the late John Edward Blake, Sr. and Elizabeth Herring Blake. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Deborah Moreadith Blake and his sister, Linda Dianne Blake. He is survived by his second wife, Nancy Miller Blake; two sons, John Christopher Blake of Wilmington, NC and Michael Graham Blake of Warrenville, SC; two grandsons, Michael Graham Blake, Jr. and Logan Christopher Blake of Fuquay-Varina, NC; two sisters, Marie Blake Lane (Richard) and Ann Rivenbark (Roger) both of Wilmington, NC. Nancy brought into their marriage two daughters, Jamie Gilmore and Cortney Gilmore Jones and two grandchildren, Kaylee Mae Jones and Austin Miner that Johnny considered his own. He is also survived by his mom-in-law, Vinna (Vin) Miller, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and many special friends who were like family. Johnny was an avid sportsman. He and his wife, Nancy, loved nothing more than hunting, fishing, gardening, camping and traveling together with friends and family. He retired from CSX after thirty years of service and was enjoying his retirement. Johnny attended Wrightsboro United Methodist Church and was an active member of their singles group where he and Nancy met. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 2pm, at Wrightsboro United Methodist Church with the Pastor Rufus Butner and Pastor Jenny Wilson officiating.
