
Joseph Michael LoPresti, Sr., MD, 91, of Hampstead, NC, passed away May 4, 2010 at Davis Health Care, Wilmington, NC. Dr. LoPresti was born March 25, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Frank LoPresti and Nancy D?Andria LoPresti. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Viglione and two brothers, Vito LoPresti and Alfred LoPresti. Dr. LoPresti received a Bachelor of Science Degree from St. Peter?s College, Jersey City, NJ and his Doctor of Medicine Degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He received board certification in both pediatrics and radiology and was a national consultant for treatment of polio and battered child syndrome. In addition to practicing medicine in several hospitals in the Washington, DC area, he also was a Visiting Professor at Georgetown Medical School for 25 years. He also had received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. He also had been a contributor to many different publications. Dr. LoPresti served in the US Army and the Medical Corps of Australia and had served as a surgeon in the US Public Health Service. He was a member of St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church. Dr. LoPresti is survived by his wife, Helen M. LoPresti, at home; 5 children, Joseph M. LoPresti, Jr. and his wife Judy, Fairfax, VA, Linda Hanks, Houston, TX, Christopher LoPresti and his wife Candy, Fairfax, VA, Bart LoPresti and his wife Sue, Smithfield, VA and Patrick LoPresti, Sunnyvale, CA; 15 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and a brother, Albert LoPresti. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Thursday at Sea Lawn Memorial Park, Hampstead, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rev.
