Joseph Francis McGuire

Joseph “Joe” Francis McGuire passed away on February 4, 2026, at the age of 76 leaving behind a legacy of dedication to his country and love for his family. He was born on March 12, 1949, in Bayshore, Long Island, New York to Edward McGuire and Marian McGuire Smith. At the time of his passing, he was a resident of Leland, North Carolina.

Joe served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1973 as a Radarman aboard the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany. Following his service, he dedicated his life to his family and his wife of 47 years, Linda McGuire.

Joe enjoyed simple pleasures, including taking walks with the family dog and train watching. He was a skilled hobbyist fond of building model ships. Joe enjoyed playing golf with his adoration for the sport often depending on how well his round went that day.

Joe is survived by his wife, Linda Weller McGuire, and one son, Mark Joseph McGuire of Leland, NC. He also leaves behind his brothers, Edward McGuire and wife Joyce of Long Island, New York, and James McGuire and wife Jeanette of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

He was a loved brother-in-law to Susan Weller, Steven Weller, and Lisa Weller Suphan and husband Rich; and a cousin to Bridget McGuire Burton. Joe is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews, and 13 great-nieces and nephews.
