Lillian Patricia Flanders

LILLIAN P. GONYA FLANDERS passed away on Wednesday, July, 25, 2018. Even though she was here in Wilmington, her heart was in Vermont the place that she loved most. For her 93 years, she lived a happy and good life and was in pretty good health until the last year when she was diagnosed with Dementia.

She will always be remembered for having an immaculate and comfortable home. Thanks to her family and all her Butler Street friends, and many others in Waterbury, Barre, and Randolph, Vermont, also, Worchester, Mass. and Providence, R.I. She moved to N.C. in 2009 where she went through some tough times but in spite of the hardships, kept her spirits bright and hopeful.

Robert, the love of her life, passed in 1981. She has one son, Robert, JR. and his wife Dorice of Leland, NC, also one grandson, Casey and his fiancée, Carlisa of San Diego, CA. She also had two brothers that preceded her in death, Stanley and Harold Gonya.

She will be cremated and buried in Vermont next to her husband at a date to be determined later. Condolences can be sent to [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
