Our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Marilyn “Meemo” Scott, left this world for her heavenly home on September 30, 2025, at the age of 91. If you knew Marilyn, you knew that she gave the best hugs and that her door was always open to welcome family and friends. She loved to visit over a cup of coffee, hot or iced with foam, and could talk to anyone about anything - especially if it involved her grandsons.
Marilyn and her late husband John Scott created a warm and wonderful home for all of us. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. She is survived by her children Karen, Jennifer, and John (Adria); her three grandsons, who were the light of her life: Jack, Thomas, and Andrew; and her cherished pup Nola who joined her on daily adventures.
A snowbird who spent part of every year in Hampstead, NC and the other in Pittsburgh, PA, Marilyn loved her gardens and her songbirds. Her favorite places bloomed with color and friends and many allowed her furry pup Nola to keep her company.
Pancake brunches with her grandsons and their friends, lobster rolls enjoyed on the inland waterway, trips to the bird store for worms to feed the bluebirds, playing trivia and music bingo with her girls, Wednesday night dinners out with family, and eating the best bagels in Pittsburgh are all traditions we hope to carry on. She knit us afghans, hats, scarves and gloves to keep us cozy and to wrap ourselves in love. She will always be with us in spirit.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held on October 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at All Saints Catholic Church in Hampstead, NC. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
A second celebration, date to be announced, will take place in Pittsburgh.
