

Rhonda Jackson Wheeler went to meet the Lord on Sunday , May 30, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center. Born Jan. 31, 1956, Rhonda was a daughter of Jean DeVane Jackson and the late Herbert Graham Jackson of Wilmington. She was a graduate of New Hanover High School and Southeastern Community College where she earned an RN degree. She was a nurse at New Hanover Regional Medical Center for 15 years. A friend to all and stranger to no one, there were few people she met with whom she could not find a connection in common. She always put others ahead of herself, never stopped being a nurse for family and friends, and was a close friend to many. In addition to her mother, Rhonda is survived by her husband, Mike Wheeler, daughters Abbey and Lindsey of the home; sister, Denise Jones and her husband Jim of Raleigh; and nieces Carrie Leffingwell and husband Eric of Wilmington, and Robin Boone of Raleigh; her mother-in law, Virginia Wheeler, brothers-in-laws Richard Wheeler and wife Jenny and Harvey Wheeler and wife Kathi, and sister-in-law Jennie Parmenter and husband Jim, all of Wilmington. The family will receive friends at Andrews Mortuary on Market Street from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and at other times at the homes of Jean Jackson and Virginia Wheeler. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Andrews Market Street Chapel. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Zimmer Cancer Center and the Betty Cameron Center, second floor, NHRMC; and Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
