

He was born on October 14, 1936 in Bear Grass, NC, the son of the late Cortez and Armintie Bowen. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Robert Cortez ”Corey” Bowen, III.
Mr. Bowen served in the US Air Force, Washington D.C. Park Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He retired as a Special Agent of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms after 31 years of service. He was a member of the Wilmington 1st Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed fishing and shooting and was an ardent baseball fan, having pitched for the 1955 Williamston High School state championship baseball team.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Lou Modlin Bowen, as well as their four sons: Robert C. Bowen, Jr. (Tonna) of Wilmington and their son John, Michael D. Bowen (Anne) of Valdosta, GA and their three sons; Michael Jr., James and Christopher, Douglas L. Bowen (Laure) of Ozark, MO and their children; Weston, Cole and Elisabeth, and Jon B. Bowen (Alice) of Lexington, KY. He is also survived by his two siblings, Donnie Bowen (Cindy) of Knoxville, TN and Paulette Bland of Williamston, NC.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the funeral service at 11 AM at Andrews Mortuary on South College Road, Wilmington, NC. There will be no graveside service.
