Salvatore Arra, 66, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026. Born on September 29, 1959, in New York, NY, son of the late Anthony Arra and Marie Embarrato Arra. Salvatore grew up in Nutley, New Jersey. He later raised his family in North Arlington, New Jersey with his beloved wife, Nancy.
Salvatore spent more than 20 years working at the New York Post, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. In retirement, he and Nancy moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, where they enjoyed a quieter life together. He spent time relaxing by the river, savoring the calm moments of his retirement.
Salvatore found joy in the simple things—spending time by the pool, relaxing on the patio with Nancy and their dog, and cooking for the people he loved. He was always waiting for Nancy to join him, ready with her favorite meatball meal he had prepared. He loved walking right behind his family, quietly supporting them in his own way. Above all, Salvatore will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality. A true wise guy with a quick wit, he had a way of making people laugh and leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
As a father, he showed up for every accomplishment and never missed an opportunity to tell his children how proud he was. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his daughters, Marianna and Allison (Bernard); his sons, Michael (Heather), Andrew (Melissa), and David (Madyson); and his four grandsons, Owen, Oliver, Theodore and Sloan; his sister, Andrea Arra; his brother, Alfred Arra; and his beloved fur babies, Beck Lee and Luna. He is now reunited in heaven with his cherished fur baby, Shelby.
A celebration of life will be held on April 12, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at 116 Forsyth Lane, Rocky Point, North Carolina 28457.
