Sue Stella Sands

She was born in Albion, New York, on date July 19th, 1936 to the late Walter “Mike” and Mildred (Sayers) Sands.

Sue was a loving mother and friend. She was a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse for over 40 years, serving first at the Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital in Albion, NY, then several hospitals and private practices in Wilmington, NC. She led swimming instruction courses for the Red Cross including water safety and advanced life-saving techniques. Sue was a member of the North Brunswick Lion’s Club and an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilmington, NC. She will always be remembered for her kindness, grace, and dignity, especially at the end, enjoying her life and the lives of her friends and family.

Sue is survived by her children, Terry (Michael) Vick, Drew Francis, Carol Guarino, Nancy ‘Jane’ (Jay Manley) Francis and her sister, Sherell Sands of Chicago, Ill. 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on October 1st at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 12 N 6th St. Wilmington, NC 28401. Rev. Melvin E.
