Sue Ellen Willis

She was born on October 19, 1942 in Fort Bragg, NC, daughter of the late Minnie Lou Genes Thompson and Thearon Ellis Thompson.

“Miss Sue” was a member of First Wesleyan Church of Wilmington; she enjoyed reading, singing, writing stories, cooking and painting. “Miss Sue” will always be remembered for her cookies!

“Miss Sue” is survived by her husband of 53 years, John G. Willis of Wilmington; her four children, Lou Durbin and her husband, Paul Jr., Thearon Willis and his wife Wendy, Elizabeth Shepherd and her husband Mark and Patience Shepherd and her husband Bill; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Sunday September 29, 2013 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 3:00pm with Pastor David Lord officiating.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Monday September 30, 2013 at the Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local hospice.
