He was born November 17, 1949, in Montgomery County PA, the son of the late Alan Oakley and Malba Lilly. In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his brother Robert Oakley.
Tom is survived by his wife Janice Oakley; son Jeffrey Oakley and wife Jodi of Hampstead; daughter Kelly Oakley Curry and husband John Curry of South Lake Tahoe, CA; grandchildren Julia, Madilyn, Malory, Audrey and Nathaniel; brother Donald Oakley and wife Jane; niece Judith Roman and nephew Daniel Oakley.
After serving as a payroll specialist in the US Army, Tom entered the construction industry. After several years, he and his buddy Bill Austermehle formed their own construction company, A&O Carpentry, in PA. For more than twenty years Tom and Bill, whom he enjoyed working with immensely, specialized in home and office remodeling. After that he enjoyed a second career as a Paupack Township, PA Supervisor, where he excelled due to his jovial personality and love of interacting with people.
Beyond work, Tom enjoyed wood working, boating, water and snow skiing and snowmobiling. He absolutely loved life and never turned down a good adventure “if you can get a good story out of it, it was worth it”.
After moving to Hampstead in 2016, Tom’s outgoing personality gained him many new friends.
