Thomas A. Phillips

Tom was born in Harriman, TN on December 8, 1933, the son of the late Herschell and Bonnie Phillips of Lansdale, PA. He was preceded in death by his first wife Jane Mullinix Phillips, brothers Harold Phillips, Roy Phillips, David Phillips and sister Pauline Edmonds.

Tom was a member and past elder at the Pine Valley Church of Christ in Wilmington. He attended Wilmington College where he played basketball and spent most of his career working for 37 years in the pest control industry in sales and personnel.  Tom was an avid golfer and spent many enjoyable days playing golf with family and friends and also enjoyed working in his yard and doing his crossword puzzles.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Young Phillps, his son T. Alan Phillips and wife Karen Phillips of Wilmington, his daughter Karen P. Koide and husband Tetsuya Koide of Valrico, FL, and three step-children Stephen L. Young of Lancaster, SC, Richard S. Young and wife Sheryl Young of Greenbrier, AR, and Laura Y. Stephenson and husband Graydon Stephenson of Henderson, NC.  His family also includes grandchildren Jonathan Daniels (Keil), Sarah Webb (husband Ryan), Susie Young, Daniel Stephenson, David Stephenson (wife Libby), Jasrah Stephenson and 6 great-grandchildren.

Tom, one of nine children, is also survived by brothers James Herschell Phillips Jr. (wife Janet) and Jerry D. Phillips (wife Martha) and sisters Wanda Landis and Peggy Corsetti (husband Jim), and numerous nephews and nieces.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, December 30, 2022 at the Pine Valley Church of Christ. The service will be conducted by minister Mike Hipes of Pleasantville, SC.  Interment will follow at the Oleander Memorial Gardens.
