William Russell Jones, Jr.

He was born on September 4, 1942, in Abingdon, Virginia to the late William Russell and Pearl Mattie Jones.

Bill is survived by his three daughters; Penny Ellis of Dennis Port, Mass, Donna Strickland and her husband James Strickland of Leland, NC, Teena Kirby and her husband Eddie of Leland, NC; He had eight grandchildren: Jeffrey Buie, Ashley Trotter, Alycia Mintz, Amanda Mintz, James Martinez, Jessica Minnie, David Kirby and Jonathan Kirby, Joshua Martinez and Michael Martinez; and seventeen great grandchildren.

Bill was a proud U.S. Army Veteran. He received the National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon. He was in the Civil Service and the Peace Corps.

After his time in the service, Bill split his time as a truck driver and a P.I. both giving him many adventures.

Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 11:30am on Saturday April 4, 20206 at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412.

Funeral Service will start at 11:30am in the Coble Chapel with Preachers, Rob Looney and Jonathan Carrier (nephew) Officiating.

Interment with Military Honors will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be James Martinez, Christopher Minnie, DJ Mintz, Greg Mintz, Luke Mintz, Roger Greenwood and David Kirby.

Reception to follow at New Hope Baptist Church, 2727 Mount Misery Road, Leland, NC 28451.
