William Franklin Lowe, Jr

Born May 16, 1934 in Gastonia, NC, he is a son of William Franklin Lowe, Sr. and Minnie Lee Hovis Lowe. He was predeceased by his wife, Jane Mulvey Lowe on July 14, 2015.

Mr. Lowe spent time in the U.S. Army in the U.S and abroad. He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in German at UNC Chapel Hill, where he also met his wife. He started his career teaching German at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS before accepting a similar position at UNCW, where he also was a General College Advisor. He retired in 1999 as the Director of Modern Language Department, spending greater than four decades as an educator.

Mr. Lowe was a longstanding member of St. James Parish.

He is survived by his children, Christopher Michael Lowe (Christine) and Whitney Lowe June (Bill); and his grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Chloe, Katie and Will.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, June 29, 2017 at St. Francis Garden at St. James Parish, 25 S 3rd St, Wilmington, NC 28401. A reception will follow in the Great Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. James Parish or the charity of choice.
