

Betty Jean Amerson , age 87, passed away Saturday January 11, 2025 at Wilson Pines. She was born February 11, 1937 in Wilson County to the late Joe Walker and Addie Gertrude Thigpen and was also preceded in death by her husband Melvin Ray Amerson, her daughter Bobbie Jo Edwards and a step daughter Phyllis Skinner.
Betty Jean was young at heart, loved her grandbabies and loved all children. She was a good Christian woman and loved reading her bible. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Phyllis Ellis of Wilson, Lynn Holbrook and her husband Thomas of Stantonsburg and Kimberly Jeffries and her husband Stephen of Fuquay Varina, her step daughters, Patricia Turner and Deborah Tripp, her brother Billy Taylor and his wife Margaret of Jacksonville, her grandchildren, Crystal, Scott, Michael, Dwayne, Danah, Andy, Bradley Kelly, Dylan, Paige, Trevor and Lauren, her great grandchildren, Shania, Christian, Blake, Reagan, Zoey, Jacob, Marjorie, Caleb, Gracelyn, Cameron, Emmah, Conner, Haley, Makayla, Karson, Paislee, Greysen, Liam, Abby and Alexis and four great great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 2 PM in the chapel of Thomas – Yelverton Funeral Home with Dr. Otis Hamm officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM at Thomas – Yelverton Funeral Home.
