Billy was born on January 6, 1951 in Marrowbone, KY to the late Irvin and Jewell Smith
Ballard. Billy worked for many years at SKF in Glasgow, KY before moving
to Wilson, NC where he retired from Bridgestone Firestone. He was an avid
golfer and a member of Willow Springs Country Club, and was a University
of Kentucky basketball fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister; Mildred Savage.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Garner Ballard of Wilson, NC, his son,
Michael (Becky) Ballard of Burkesville, KY, his daughter, Laura (Robert)
Peterson of Springfield, TN, his step-daughter Buffy (Jeff) McLawhorn of
Sims, NC, grandchildren Hannah and Micah Ballard, Mirah, Ace, and Nash
Peterson, step grandchildren Briana, Jacob, and Riley McLawhorn, step
great grandson Drew McLawhorn, as well as a host of friends and relatives.
Billy chose cremation.
A celebration of life service will be held on Oct 15, 2021 at 4:00 PM
at the Willow Springs Country Club in Wilson, NC.
