Evelyn Joyce Atnip, age 80, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at her home surrounded by family. She was a daughter of the late Ruby Lamm Jones and was also predeceased by her husband James Robert Atnip, an infant son Willie, brothers Joseph Ray “Bunk” Jones, Robert Jones and Andy Jones.
Evelyn was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was known as the neighborhood Mom. She was a great wife, mother and woman.
Left to cherish her memory is her son Billy Ray Aycock and wife Renee of Wilson, her daughter Carolyn Aycock Talton and husband Stan of Black Creek, her brother Randy Jones and wife Lorraine of Elm City, sisters, Nancy Jones of Wilson, Virginia Rodgers of Wilson, Brenda Wheeler and husband Davis of Elm City, Polly Worley and husband Danny of Wilson and Janice Pate and husband Jackie of Wilson, two grandchildren, Ruby Curl and Greg Curl.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11 AM in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 202 Mercer St. Black Creek, NC on Thursday and Friday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Evelyn’s name may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1815 Airport Blvd. W. Wilson NC 27896.
