Fanny Quintavalle, 90 of Wilson, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024, at her home surrounded by family. She was born February 22, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Cuomo Rasino and Maria Grace Coretto Rasino. She was also predeceased by her husband Richard J. Quintavalle, Sr., and five brothers and sisters.
Fanny was a cherished member of St. Therese Catholic Church, where her deep faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her culinary skills were exceptional, especially her Sunday afternoon Italian meals, which her family eagerly anticipated each week. Although she wasn’t fond of fish, she honored tradition by preparing the classic Italian seven-fish dinner for Christmas Eve.
Together with Richard, she moved to Wilson in 1975 and later opened Monticello Café, a testament to their Italian heritage. The café was well-known for its delectable dishes, including the beloved R&F—named after them—and her renowned lasagna, among many other Italian specialties.
Fanny's love and devotion extended to her family, where she was a nurturing mother and grandmother. Her vibrant personality and independence made her a source of constant laughter and joy. Her legacy of warmth, humor, and love of cooking continues to be celebrated by those who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Debra Adams and husband Jerry of Wilson and Anna Proctor and husband Alex of Wilson, her sons, Richard Quintavalle, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Elm City, and Robert Quintavalle and wife Judith of Wilson, a sister Felicia Cozzolino of Wilson, and eight grandchildren; Brandon Adams (wife Summer), Elizabeth Adams (fiancé Worth Mills), Jason Barnes (fiancé Lola Jenkins), Zachary Barnes, Julia Quintavalle, Justin Quintavalle, Samantha Quintavalle and Nathan Quintavalle and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Therese Catholic Church, 700 Nash St. N. Wilson, NC 27893 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate.
