
Jack was born on March 5, 1939, to Graham and Gladys Wilkerson in Wilson County, NC. After his father’s death when Jack was four years old, his mother remarried R.D. “Johnnie” Morris, who raised Jack as his own son. Jack graduated from Rock Ridge High School in 1957 and then attended Wilson Technical Institute. He served in the United States Air Force and later studied electronic technology at DeVry Institute in Chicago, IL.
After taking a job in the Research Triangle Park and moving to Durham he met, Dolly, his wife of 52 years. The two went on to have two daughters, Jan and Jill along with two stepsons, Donny and Tim. Jack spent his entire working career in the Durham/Raleigh area. He worked for Monsanto, ManTech (EPA), and finally NC DOT.
Jack loved listening to music, reading, studying maps, watching cowboy westerns and baseball games, trains, radios, long drives to explore anywhere and everywhere, great conversations, the Blue Ridge Mountains, many cups of coffee a day, and most of all he loved his family.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy “Dolly” Wilkerson.
He is survived by his daughters, Jan Barnes (Loftin), Jill Tavormina (Rocco), stepsons, Donny and Tim Marshall, grandchildren, Robin, Ashley, Payton, and Kinsley, and great grandchildren Ryann and Lucy. He is also survived by his sister, Neta Perry (Phil).
A graveside service will take place Saturday October 15, 2022 at 1:00pm at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham, NC.
