Tom was a US Army Veteran. In his younger years he loved to race. He could be found most anytime at the racetrack. He taught construction at Wilson Tech for six years, his new passion, when that wasn't enough, he started Ready Construction. For 56 years Ready Construction has carried on.
Tom is survived by his wife of seventy years, Annie Lou Jones; his son Garry Jones (Angel); his half sister Shirley Holisten (Larry); his grandson Zachary Jones (Jemima), several nieces and nephews and his loving furbaby, Heidi.
Tom was preceded in death by his father William Aden Jones and his mother Lela Futrell Jones; his brother James Otto Jones; his brother Henry Aden Jones; his half sister Brenda Thornton and his half brother Edward Haney.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Celebration of life will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Thomas - Yelverton Funeral Home, 2704 Nash St N., Wilson, North Carolina 27896. Entombment following the funeral service in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 2800 Nash St N., Wilson, North Carolina 27896.
