Ruby Whitley Lucas

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; J.W. (Jim) Lucas, one daughter Jeanette Lucas Holley, three brothers; Sonny Boy Whitley, James Edward Whitley, and William Earl Whitley, and one sister Minnie Ruth Leverette.

She is survived by her daughter Annette Lucas Sullivan and husband Kenneth of Wilson, her son Jay Lucas and wife Lorraine of Lucama, six grandchildren; Chris Joyner, Ricky Lamm, Jonathan Joyner, Bryan Holley, Jason Holley and Ashley Dixon, twelve great-grandchildren; Destinee, Tyler, Taylor, JJ, Bryleigh, Brogan, Braylan, Jackie, Sadie, Weston, Wyatt, Winter and Willow.

Ruby was a member of Gospel Assembly Church of Wilson. She loved the Lord, her church and her family. All throughout her life she always had a great love for her pets. She enjoyed traveling, and making ceramics and pottery. She will be missed tremendously by all that knew and loved her.

Family will receive visitors and friends on Thursday, March 17, 2022 from 6:00-7:00 pm at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home in Wilson and at other times at 5560 Lloyd Rd, Lucama NC 27851. Funeral Services will be immediately following visitation at 7:00 pm and will be officiated by Brother Garland Driver and Brother Billy Davis. Interment will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022 at 11:00 am at Evergreen Memorial Park in Wilson.

The family would like to extend their gratitude for the excellent care given by the staff at Wilson Medical Center as well as the staff at Kitty Askins in Goldsboro.
