
Born in Clermont, he was the son of the late John and Mattie Rider Gilstrap. He was a member of Winder First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Brotherhood Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Winder Masonic Lodge 333 for 60 years, where he was a past master, a member of The Kiwanis Club (past president). Mr. Gilstrap was preceded in death by a son, John Richard Gilstrap; great-grandchild, Macy Robison; and brother, Boyd Gilstrap.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Eura Mae Gilstrap, Winder; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Jannis Gilstrap, Clinton, Miss., and Jimmy and Jima Gilstrap,Marietta and Debra Gilstrap of Winder ; grandchildren, Angie Robison, Alan Gilstrap, Caroline Gorman, Suzanne Donaldson, Ric Gilstrap and Cayce Gilstrap; great-grandchildren, Kate Robison, John Clayton Robison, Carson Gilstrap, Ross Gilstrap, Miller Gilstrap, Bailey Gorman, James Donaldson, Luke Donaldson; a brother, Earl Gilstrap, Cumming; and sisters, Sylvia Cooper, Chestnut Mountain, and Nell Morris, Gainesville.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, at 2 p.m., from Winder First Baptist Church with Dr. John Talley officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, June 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
