Cecil Jackson Salyers

Cecil Jackson Salyers age 79 of Bethlehem passed away Monday, November 30, 2020. Cecil was a native of Wise County, VA. He attended Hebron Baptist Church for many years. Cecil was a Veteran, proudly serving in The US Army. He retired as a Forman for the Dekalb County Fleet Maintenance Department. Cecil loved gardening, traveling, bird watching and most of all his family.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Jackson Winfield and Draxie Collins Salyers; his wife, Pauline Whaley Salyers; two brothers, Glenn and Francis Salyers and two sisters, Susie Mullins and Beatrice Salyers. He is survived by a son, Greg Salyers (Cindy) of Prattville, AL; a daughter, Amanda Salyers Byrd of Monroe; three brothers, Norman Salyers of Liberty, KY, Dewey Salyers of Pound, VA and Cameron Salyers of Pound, VA; two sisters, Reable Stevenson of Wise, VA and Selma Steele of Wise, VA; three grandchildren, Jessica Jewell, Madeline Byrd and Jeremiah Byrd and two great grandchildren, Jacelyn Jewell and Johanna Jewell. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 2PM Saturday, December 5, 2020 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder, GA. Visitation will be held from 12 until 2PM at the funeral home the day of the service. Interment will follow in Barrow Memorial Gardens with military honors.
