Donald Russell Austin

Donald Russell Austin, age 81, of Bethlehem, Georgia passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023. Donald was born October 12, 1942 to parents R.P. and Kathleen Austin. He was a lifelong Georgia resident and a member of the American Legion for over 40 years. Donald was a focused, strong willed man, who was generous to a fault. He loved old country music, animals and the outdoors. In his younger years he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in passing by brother, Robert Austin; and his sister-in-law, Sarah Austin. Donald is survived by his sister, Ona McGahee; nephews, Wayne (Sherryl) Austin and Keith (Elizabeth) Austin; great nephews, Caleb (Stoshia) Austin and Colton (Grace Hedges) Austin; great nieces, Desiree (Nelson) Martinez and Bethany Austin; two great great nephews; and three great great nieces.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atlanta Hwy SE, Winder, Georgia, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm in the Chapel. The funeral service will be officiated by Reverend Hal Tapp.
