Joan A. Biderman passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on November 27, 1932, Joan grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where she attended Fort Hamilton High School. She often jovially referred to herself as a “Brooklyn girl”. She spent much of her childhood deeply connected to her parish, Our Lady of Perpetual Help— a place she often spoke of with warmth and reverence. Her Catholic faith remained a guiding force throughout her life, and she lovingly raised her children in that same tradition.
Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond E. Biderman, with whom she shared many devoted years of marriage. She was one of five children, growing up alongside three sisters and one brother.
A dedicated mother, Joan is survived by her children: Barbara Barteau and Curtis Barteau, Alice Sneed, Raymond and Kathy Biderman, Kathy Buschor, Donna Pozowicz, Richard Biderman, Mary Biderman and Sean Cage. She was also blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each one bringing her immense joy and pride.
For many years, Joan worked as a school bus driver for the Connetquot School District in New York, a role through which she touched countless lives with her kindness and steady warmth.
Outside of work and family, Joan found joy in life’s simple beauties. She loved the beach, cherished days spent sailing on the Great South Bay and cultivated a thriving garden—hydrangeas and azaleas being among her favorites. With a natural green thumb and a bright spirit, she brought color and care to everything she tended.
Joan will be remembered for her devotion to her family and the strength of her faith. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave and the lives she shaped.
A Visitation will be held on December 8, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atlanta Hwy SE, Winder, GA. The Funeral Service will follow in Smith Memory Chapel at 4:00 pm.
