Nettie Mae Smith

Mrs. Mae Smith, age 88, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Tidewell Hospice in Bradenton, Florida after a short illness. She was a devoted wife to Alfonso D. Smith for 56 years before his passing in 2011. She was a dedicated mother to daughter Vickie (Roger) Everson and son Tim (Kamela) Smith. She was a nature lover, enjoyed gardening, and creating beautiful flower displays. She was an excellent homemaker and loved to cook and entertain family and friends. She was a woman who believed in fervent prayer and prayed daily for those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Leona Caldwell, and her husband Al Smith, as well as brother, Leroy Caldwell, and sister Neal Garrett.

She was affectionately known as “Nana” to her beloved grandchildren: Drew Brantley, Carlie Brantley, Sarah Frost, Macey Moon, and Jordan Smith. She was also blessed with six great grandchildren: Jason, John, Teran, Evie, Ellie, and Henry.

A graveside service for Mae will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Barrow Memorial Gardens, 793 Atlanta Highway SE, Winder, Georgia.
