

Pamela Sue (Hulsey Ferm) Strickland, age 68, formerly of Winder, GA, passed away in Athens, GA on June 16, 2024. Pam was born in Atlanta, GA to the late Roy “Bo” and Alma (Cates) Hulsey. She graduated from Jackson County High School and furthered her education at Gainesville Community College. Pam was a gifted pianist, singer, educator, and artist. She was most recently a member of Bear Creek First Baptist Church. She ministered to countless many through her music, whether in church leadership positions, gospel groups, or wherever she could find a piano and someone with a need. Pam enjoyed serving others and participating in spiritual retreats and camp meetings. She had a passion for preserving memories through her extensive collection of pictures, documents, media, and mementos. She found immense joy in spoiling her grandchildren and her granddogs. Her legacy of music and service will be cherished by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Pam was preceded in death by her husband, L. Taylor Strickland, and her brothers, Clifford “Pete” Hulsey and Tom Hulsey. She is survived by her brothers: Doug Hulsey of Ila, GA, and Ronnie (Jimmie) Hulsey of Buford, GA. She is survived by her children: Greg Ferm of GA; Jessica (Brent) Richardson of Albuquerque, NM; Joshua Ferm of Athens, GA; and Jonathan (Samantha) Strickland of Sierra Vista, AZ. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Chas Ferm, Reese Ferm, Lenorah Richardson, Amanda Lynn Strickland, Magnolia Sue Strickland, and Mariah Middlebrooks. Finally, she is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, and “adopted” family members.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atlanta Hwy SE, Winder, GA on Saturday, June 29, 2024, from noon until 2:00 pm. The Funeral Service – or Home-going Service, as Pam called it - will follow in Smith Memory Chapel at 2:00 pm with Pastor Steve Ray officiating and with Kimble Crane providing the celebratory music. Pam will then be laid to rest in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
The family has asked that instead of flowers, donations be made in Pam’s memory to one or more of the following: Insulin For Life USA, American Kidney Fund, and/or United Stroke Alliance.
