Sharon Hill Wilson, age 76, was welcomed into the Arms of Jesus on March 15th, 2025 in Winder, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry Griffin Hill Sr. and mother Margaret Jones Hill and her brother Henry Griffin Hill Jr. She is survived by her husband of twenty-one years – James (Jim) Wilson of Bethlehem, Georgia, sister-in-law Denise Weikle Hill of Monroe, Georgia, step sons Jay Wilson (Cindy), and Josh Wilson of Piedmont, Alabama. Other survivors include step granddaughters Mackenze Brewster and Tylin Wilson of Weaver, Alabama, and step grandsons Jayson Wilson of Henderson, Nevada and Cole Wilson of Piedmont, Alabama. Though her birth name was Sharon, she was soon called Sherry. Sherry loved her childhood growing up in the Atlanta area. She was blessed with first cousins living as neighbors and that closeness lasted through the years. Sherry graduated from Avondale High School in 1966 and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1970. She majored in Elementary Education and spent thirty years teaching in the DeKalb County Georgia School System. Her primary subject matter was fifth grade math. She excelled at her profession as she was named the Montgomery Elementary School’s “Teacher Of The Year” three times.
Sherry loved the Georgia Bulldogs, Shag Dancing, and her family. Having no children of her own – she had a special relationship with her niece (Nikki Wright) and nephew (Jason Hill). Upon her retirement she moved to Bethlehem, Georgia to care for her aging dad. He was ninety years young at the time and with her excellent care lived another five years.
In the time she relocated to Bethlehem, Sherry met Jim Wilson and he soon fell in love with her and asked for her hand in marriage. Sherry accepted and they were joined in matrimony on June 3, 2004.
Sherry’s world revolved around her faith, family, and friends. She was loved by many and a blessing to all.
Sherry’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the Odyssey Memory Care Center – The Landing in Winder, Georgia. We also ask that you consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association in Sherry’s memory.
