

Buck had lived in Georgia since 1972. He was a great cook, enjoyed watching golf on television and he enjoyed camping. He was a great teacher and an amazing father. He always loved spending time at Ft. Walton Beach with his wife Carole and their German Shepherds.
Master Sargent Verle W. Weicht had a long career serving his country in the U.S. Army. He entered the military service in May 1953 at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. He had served with the 31st Infantry Division at Camp Atterbury, Indiana; Fort Carson, Colorado; and Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. He also served at the U.S. Army Intelligence Center and School, Fort Holabird, Baltimore, Maryland; Enlisted Advisor, XXI U.S. Army Corps, Baltimore, Maryland; Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Personnel, Headquarters, Second U.S. Army, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland; Office of the Inspector General, Fort Eustis, Virginia; Staff Communications Division, Office of the Secretary of the Army, Pentagon, Washington, DC; Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Personnel, Headquarters, Continental Army Command, Fort Monroe, Virginia; and Headquarters, Army Readiness Region IV, Fort Gillem, Georgia. His overseas service included two tours in Europe with the Office of the Adjutant General and Office of the Commander-In-Chief, Secretary General Staff, Heidelberg, Germany; as well as two tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Army Element, Military Assistance and Advisory Group, and Headquarters, Military Assistance Command, Vietnam. His awards include: the Army of Occupation Medal, Germany; National Defense Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster; seven awards of the Good Conduct Medal; the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; the Vietnam Service Medal; the Vietnam Campaign Medal; the Joint Service Commendation Medal; the Army Commendation Medal with four oak clusters; the Bronze Star Medal; the Meritorious Unit Citation; the Presidential Unit Citation; and the Meritorious Service Medal.
In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by his wife, Carole Ann Mullinax Weicht; his brother, Harold Weicht; and his sister, Pearl Weicht. He is survived by: his sons, Steven Monroe (Linda) Weicht and Gregory Paul Weicht; grandchildren: Kenzie Weicht and Destin Weicht; great-grandchild, D.J. Weicht; and nephew, Carl Weicht.
