

Antonia Rubio Arias, affectionately known as Toni to her colleagues and friends, and Auntie Toneng to her nephews and nieces, peacefully passed away on July 9, 2023, at Metropolitan Hospital. She was born on May 4, 1935, in Saloysoy, Meycauayan Bulacan, as the fifth child of the late Pedro Arias and Marcela Rubio.
In the late 1960s, between 1967 and 1969, Antonia embarked on a new journey, migrating to Canada in pursuit of new horizons and opportunities. There, she made her mark and built a life filled with love, compassion, and purpose.
Antonia had a successful career as a pharmacist, dedicating her time and expertise to helping others. She worked diligently in this field before deciding to retire early, enjoying the fruits of her labor and embracing a well-deserved rest.
On February 14, 1970, Antonia exchanged vows with the late Eduardo Mendoza in a heartwarming ceremony held in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Their union was a testament to their deep love and commitment to one another, creating a bond that would withstand the test of time.
Antonia's passing leaves a void in the lives of her loved ones, but her memory will forever be cherished by her youngest sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, and nieces. She was a source of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love, leaving an indelible impact on their lives.
Throughout her life, Antonia was an active member of the Filipino Community Center (FCC), where she served as a board member and found solace in the harmonies of the choir. Her contributions to the FCC were immeasurable, and her dedication to her community was unwavering.
Antonia's faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a cherished member of St. Alphonsus Parish Church in downtown Windsor. Not only did she lend her voice to the choir, but she also served as a valued member of the Finance Committee. Her devotion to her church family was a reflection of her unwavering commitment to her spiritual journey.
Known for her generosity, dependability, organizational skills, ambition, and sense of responsibility, Antonia was a joy to work with and plan for the future. She possessed a deep understanding of the importance of interpersonal bonds and upheld the values of justice and unity.
As we mourn the loss of Antonia Rubio Arias, we remember her as a beacon of love, compassion, and integrity. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts, serving as a reminder to embrace each day with kindness and purpose.
