Donald A. Murray

Passed away peacefully March 27,2017 at Windsor Regional Hospital, Ouellette Campus. Born May 15, 1930 to Annie Montgomery (1930), predeceased by his mother Jean Murray (1983). Beloved husband of 39 years to Shirley (Filault) nee Ashley. Survived by her children Carol Reaume (Sinc 2002), Doug (Barbara) Filiault, Sandy (Gary) Andreoff, and Gary (Lana) Filiault. Grandchildren, Bradley (1995), Denise (Jeff), Jeffrey, Doug (Tracy), Chris (Jen), Curtis (Bobby Jo), Keith (Tara), Brianne (Jeff), Dennis and Jody (Greg). Great-Grandchildren, Sydney, Joshua, Jake, Jordan, Alex, Luc, Lexi,Chloe, Gracie, Paige, Brody, Taya and Max. He is also survived by cousins Wayne, John and Marylou Hausser of West Lorne. Don and Mom were fondly known as “Duck and Sweets” to their family and friends. Don retired in 1989 after 40 years with the C&O Railroad. He had a love for trains and never missed an opportunity to wave to the conductors as the train passed his home. He was born in Harrow and raised in West Lorne. He commuted from West Lorne to work in Windsor at the former Walkerville freight station. He later met “Sweets” and they married in 1978. He fit in perfectly with his instant family. We will all miss his sense of humor, his love for food and playing euchre. He was a very kind and generous man. Visitation will be held at the Walter D. Kelly Funeral Life Celebration Centre (1969 Wyandotte St. E Windsor) on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 2pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm. A graveside service will take place on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 2:00pm at Evergreen Cemetery (24928 County Rd 2, West Lorne)with family and friends meeting directly at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the charity of your choice in Don's memory would be greatly appreciated by the family.
