He was my hero for a long time.  Peter Debbie and I really appreciated his being there when Mom died.  I'm so sorry for your loss.  He really knew how to take care of his flock

We have such fond memories of Reverend Camman "Jurrien". He was a wonderful man, with a great sense of humour and a passion for caring for others. He has left a footprint on our hearts. Our deepest sympathies.

Your Dad was the first person to take me golfing, just a par3 course, he had a lot of patience that day. I also remember that when he came to visit we had white bread and the yellow, orange and pink sugar sprinkles. We also were given the Advent calendar with the chocolate squares inside the windows and the chocolate letters at Christmas.

What Jurrien brought to our family that we all should be proud Canadians. When the Quebec referendums were going on and we said it was okay for Quebec to separate, he wanted us to think about what a great country we lived in and to appreciate our differences. As a child he learned German and French to survive in Holland during the war. 
From Jurrien I also learned the 6th of December was St. Nicholas day in Holland and specula cookies.  He was always ready for a cup of coffee and a cookie.

My condolences to Rev. Cammen's family. I first met Rev. Cammen when our church (Calvary Community Church) used Riverside United Church on Sunday afternoons when our new church was being built. I remember the friendship that he struck up with our minister, Don Rogers and many people in the Pentecostal congregation. 

Later on in life I moved back to Windsor and I attended Riverside United on occasion. Rev. Camman was a minister that I will never forget. 

He had a kind sense of humour and and and enthusiasm that spread throughout the congregation. He was joyous about life and he didn't hold back in greeting a visitor to his church or to make someone new feel welcome.

 It should be noted that the friendship that began in 1977 when Calvary Community Church was being built went on for many years. Many people from Calvary came back and used Riverside United's beautiful and spatious and welcoming facilities. 

I will always have wonderful memories of Rev. Cammen and of Riverside United. He truly served God with all of his strength

Mark and I will always remember the message on our wedding day, it was about hockey,  There is no I in TEAM.

"Van het concert des levens,krijgt niemand een program." In the concert of life, no one gets a program... Rev. Camman used this as the basis for the sermon he gave at my wedding in 1986.  My father and father-in-law were both from the Netherlands, and thoroughly enjoyed Jurrien.  He was a very warm-hearted, Godly, and highly humorous man.  He touched many, many lives in a positive way.   My sincere condolences to his family and all who loved him.

To the family of Jurrien Camman,
I was baptized at Riverside United, received first communion at Riverside United and was married there for my first marriage.  
When I wanted to remarry several years after my divorce, Jurrien understood why I did not want it in the church and agree to perform the ceremony at Iona Chapel.  
Jurrien asked what my husband had done to change my mind as I had said I would not remarry,
Jurrien married us Oct. 29, 1983 and we were his 500th wedding.  He often kidded us about that.  My husband told him we should at least get a microwave.  While no longer a member of Riverside United, I did see Jurrien throughout the years as he volunteered at organizations I dealt with in my work.
He did contact me several times personally and I have been thinking of him in the past month.  I now regret I did not email him.
I did not attend as I only learned today of his passing or I would have been there.
I also have fond memories of Norma.
Please know that we are thinking of you and your family in your loss.  
We have now been married almost 29 years.

Jurrien touched our lives in so many ways. He married Doug and I in 1995 and Kristin and Scott in 1998. He was there for us when Doug's Dad died. I will always remember the first time I went to church at Riverside United. After his usual goodmorning everyone, he shouted, "The reason there is no one sitting in the first 3 rows is because they tell me I am too loud". That was the first time I got to enjoy his sense of humour. He was a special man and will be sadly missed.

Our sympathy and condolences, it's hard to say good-bye to ones Dad.  We are there with you at the Service for your Dad in thoughts, prayer and love and wish we could be there physically too hear the many tributes and sing a hymn, shed a tear.  Since we can't, we'll dwell on the last time we saw him, afew colds days in Nov. 2002, touring us around Windsor as we waited for the day he could so proudly walk his daughter down the aisle. Soon after we became neighbors with the Cammans, we lost my Uncle.  Jurrien took the time to help me understand my loss. For his kind and gentle words I will always be grateful.

He married my daughter & son-in-law Stephen & Kelly Ross almost 29 years ago and married my late husbamd Mac & I in 1994. He was a wonderful man and was so good to my parents ( Robin & Helen Adair) often visiting them with Norma and the Hilton's. I will never hear "Go Tell It on the Mountain" that I won't see Jurrien's beaming face as he belted out what he said was one of his favourite hymns.   Rest in peace, Jurrien. You will be missed. I have spent the day reminiscing with my brother and many of my cousins and second cousins.  There has been a void in our lives for months since your father went into the hospital.  The void has become poignantly painful today with the realization that he has gone.  For him I know he goes to a better place; for us we will miss him more than he could ever have realized. I remember the day the Camman family arrived in Windsor by train from Edmonton â€“ October 1974.  Jurrien has been a family friend for all these years.  Many wonderful memories were shared at Riverside United Church and in each of our respective homes. This past year I was part of a small group that faithfully came to visit you in hospital.
