Kathleen Emma Burgess

Kathleen Burgess was born in Windsor on October 3, 1921. She passed peacefully with family on February 5, 2016 at the Riverside Place where she received loving care for twelve years. She was pre-deceased by her parents Richard and Clara Alice (nee Croson), and brother, Kenneth. She will be greatly missed by her nephew, Richard (Diane), niece Robin (Jim) Ehlert, sister-in-law Greta, her niece Nicole and nephews Ryan Burgess, Ben and Jason Ehlert, as well as numerous dear cousins and friends. Devoted friends Cynthia and Victor Glasford and Dawn and Kevin Augustine will miss her greatly. Kathleen was a devoted servant of the Lord, and a long-time member of Ambassador Baptist Church. She joined the Nursing Training Program, and worked for 43 years at Grace Hospital in Windsor. She served as Supervisor in the Medical and Surgical Units, as well as in the Pharmacy. She served as Night Supervisor and Director of the New Nurses Residences. She initiated the first health care coverage for nurses, the first Diabetic Clinic and trained the first male nurse at the hospital. She was proud and honoured to be associated with the Grace Hospital Alumnae for many years. Kay was an avid world traveler and skilled with numerous crafts: needlepoint, knitting, crocheting and rug hooking projects. The Celebration of Kay's Life will be held the following day, Wednesday, February 17th at 11:00 am in the Anderson Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow at Windsor Grove Cemetery. A very special thanks to all staff and residents of Riverside Place who assisted her in living a life of dignity as well as the caring people at the Ambassador Baptist Church.
