Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 29th, 2017 in his 94th year. Beloved husband of Shirley (2010). Cherished father of John and Lynne, Doug and Cynthia, Donna and Ernie Squire, and Rhonda and Keith Looker. Dear grandfather to Brad (Morgan) and David Clark. Fondly remembered by his brother Cliff, his wife Bonnie, and several nieces and nephews. Raised in St. Thomas, Ontario, he was the proud recipient of a provincial scholarship which allowed him to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a doctor. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario, (Meds '47). He married Shirley in 1948, and moved to Windsor to accept the position of company physician with Chrysler Canada, where he thoroughly enjoyed his 42 year career. During that time he was awarded Emeritus status in the Occupational and Environmental Medical Association of Canada. He was a life member of the Essex County Medical Society as well as the Ontario and Canadian Medical Associations. As a lifelong member of Lincoln Road United Church he served on the Official Board and several committees. Over the years Mom and Dad enjoyed shared travel adventures with many friends and family, cruises being one of their favourites. With the advent of the Chrysler mini-van in 1984, Dad's wanderlust was further enhanced as he could share his love for the Great Smoky Mountains with his family. These annual road trips allowed him to pursue his passion for photography. As a member of the Windsor Camera Club he won juried awards, and his slide shows were legendary (everyone stayed awake!). Dad enjoyed Windsor Symphony Orchestra concerts, live theatre productions and bridge clubs with a wide circle of friends. Many decades of summer enjoyment were spent in the Bruce Peninsula, both at Evergreen Resort and at the family Sauble Beach cottage. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Richmond Terrace in Amherstburg for their exceptional and compassionate care of Dad. They consistently went the extra mile to ensure Dad's comfort. As per Dad's wishes, cremation has already taken place, and a private family service will take place at a later date. Memorial donations to the Resident Council Fund, Richmond Terrace, 89 Rankin Avenue, Amherstburg, Ontario N9V 1E7, or charity of your choice would be appreciated. Arrangements Entrusted to Walter D Kelly Life Celebration Centre.
