It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Slavka on December 19, 2020 at the age of 89 years. Beloved wife of the late Gojko (2011) with whom she shared 62 wonderful years. Predeceased by her parents Stjepan and Ana and her sister Marija in former Jugoslavia. Loving Mother of Anne Dube (Sid) and Angie Bas (Edward). Cherished Baba of Alexandar Bas (Colleen), Scott Dube (Kristen), Sonya Wynnyk/Fuerth (Nick) and Amanda Fahey (Chris). Baba’s greatest pride and joy were her great grandchildren, Tyler, Lochlan, Reese, Mason, Jacksen and Mackenzie. Slavka will be missed by her nieces and nephews both in Serbia and Croatia. Slavka came to Canada in May 1962 to join her husband who came in 1958. They worked hard and long hours as labourers and landlords to provide the best possible life for their family. They never travelled far when the family was young because work came first, but in their retirement years they spent a lot of time in Florida and loved vacationing in Cuba and Mexico. Gojko and Slavka were dedicated members of their Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Church and travelled many places with the Seniors Club. They were honoured to be Kumovi for the Church Slava in 1991. Slavka lived to receive a 50 year membership pin in 2017. In addition she worked diligently making noodles, her famous breskve and other fundraising efforts as member of Circle of Serbian Sisters "Kneginja Jelena, by whom she was also recognized as Kuma for one year. Our family wishes to thank the staff, especially PSW’s and the RN who took care of Baba from admission in March 2016 in the Gosfield neighbourhood at Village of St.Clair. If you so desire donations would be appreciated to Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Church or the Alzheimer Society. Due to restrictions on public gatherings a private service was held. When this pandemic ends a Celebration of Slavka’s life will be arranged as it was her desire to have her friends and family eat well and drink in her memory.
