Passed away at the age of 86 years at Windsor Regional Hospital Metropolitan Campus on June 18, 2013. He will be missed by his loving wife Dorothy of 58 years and children Sandra (Wayne Knight), Douglas, Colleen (Antonio Cardillo),Doreen (David Bloomfield), and Brenda (Patrick Sprague). Predeceased by his daughter Cheryl Collins (2000). Dear son of the late William Robert Peters (1939) and Ethel Townsend Peters (1967). He was the last surviving brother of their nine children, Agnes Jane Woollatt (1970), George Edward Peters (1970), William Thomas Peters (1922), Alvin Arthur Peters (1984), Clarence Herbert Peters (1972), Ernie Robert Peters (1975), Ethel Roy (2006), and Vernon Peters (1988). Stanley was a proud grandparent to 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He worked at Kelsey Hayes Canada in Windsor for over 46 years, beginning in 1943 when his mother refused to sign the papers that would allow him to join the navy at an early age. His father, a tradesman at Kelsey Hayes, opened the door for him to become a tool and die maker there for the rest of his working life. He retired in 1988 and enjoyed road trips throughout the U.S. and Canada as well as spending time at home and special occasions with family and friends. Stanley had a history of cardiac issues after he retired and finally succumbed to cancer. Much thanks and appreciation to the nurses of 6 North at Metropolitan Campus. He will be loved and remembered for his big heart and warm no-nonsense wit. Donations in memory of Stanley may be made to the Hospice of Windsor or the Windsor & Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation. Visitation will take place at the Walter D. Kelly Life Celebration Centre on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 7-9 pm and Friday, June 21, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A celebration of Stanley’s life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Victoria Memorial Gardens.
