Great Grandchildren Caymen (Holly), Madison, Audrey, Ava, Emmy, Levi, Madden, Bohdi and Delilah. Great Great Granddaughter Mearra. Mom was predeceased by her daughter Elizabeth (1987) husband Manuel (2017) and son in law Alan Sauvé (2018).
Mom was born in São Miguel Azores, Portugal. She came from a large family of 15 children with 4 sets of twins which she was one of. Mom and Dad married in Portugal on February 1, 1959. Shortly after, they made Canada their home where they started their family.
Mom loved cooking big meals for her family and friends - no one left hungry! In her spare time she loved to crochet, knit, bake, word search and colour. Mom and Dad lived on small acreage where they were able to have a large garden where they spent their time in. The harvest was always bountiful to the point where if you stopped by for a visit you HAD to leave with bags of produce to take home and enjoy!
Once Dad passed their home was too much to take care of on her own. She moved to Kildonan Green Assisted Living in 2018. She loved going downstairs for meals and exercise enjoying the company of all the residents that lived there.
Viewing will be held at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy on Monday, August 18th from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
A celebration of Mom’s life will be held at Holy Redeemer Parish, 264 Donwood Drive, Tuesday, August 19th at 11:00 am with Father Anthony Austin officiating. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Kildonan Green along with Homecare staff who made sure mom was well taken care of. We would also like to thank Dr. Gergis and staff at Concordia Hospital for their compassion and empathy in Mom’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, you may consider a donation to Canadian Diabetes Foundation, Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
