He will be remembered by Bonnie, his wife of 49 years, his son, Troy and his daughter, Quinn. Al is now reunited with his mother Jessie, father Steve and sister Carole.
Al loved attending all of his kids school and sporting activities. When they were little it was soccer and then the kids developed their own interests. Troy played hockey for awhile and then landed on curling, which he thoroughly loved. Al and his Dad loved watching Troy curl and then giving him “pointers” after the game. After high school Troy even curled for a number of years with his Dad at the Elmwood Curling Club. After the games the team would go upstairs for a “few” drinks. Quinn’s love was on the ice, first with ringette and then hockey. Al and his Dad rarely missed a game. Al spent time being the team’s manager and loved going to out-of-town tournaments. He even went to watch Quinn’s games when she played in the Adult Safe Hockey League.
Al was an avid Winnipeg Jets fan, having season tickets with his Dad during the WHA years and then when the Jets joined the NHL. Al loved taking the kids to some Jet games and enjoyed it when he was able to go with Troy to Jets and Bomber games when Troy got tickets. Al and Bonnie enjoyed season tickets to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for a while. Al’s interest in sports declined as he got older.
One of his favourite times was our family trips to Walt Disney World. He went on all the rides with the kids, even though he was not a fan of roller coasters. We will carry those memories in our hearts forever.
Al spent his 35 year long career with the Department of National Defence as an estimator/specification writer. He also had a side business for many years, A.S. Morris Sales.
The family will be having a Celebration of Life on June 10, 7:00pm, Elmwood Curling Club, 300 Braizier Street.
