It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Amador Antonio Campos Montes, who peacefully left us on July 5, 2025 at the age of 83, surrounded by his family, at Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Amador was born on June 9, 1942 in Santiago, Chile.
As a young child, he lived in Lota, Chile. He went to university in Santiago later moving to Ovalle, Chile where he was a professor at the Escuela Industrial teaching mechanical engineering. He was also a very dedicated and respected volunteer fireman in Ovalle. He was a very experienced scuba diver instructor that allowed him to be the only deep water rescuer.
He married María Angélica Carmona on September 11, 1965 and had three children, Geraldo Antonio, Luis Alexandro and Angélica María. After the 1973 Chilean coup, Amador and his family immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada arriving on July 6, 1976.
In Winnipeg, he was proud to be working at CN as a heavy duty machinist and retired after 27 years.
He met his second wife Gloria Clark in 1980 at The International Centre in Winnipeg. Together, they had two daughters, Yolanda Elsie, and Elena Roberta. They married June 23, 1984 and enjoyed a wonderful life together until the passing of Gloria on March 6, 2024.
Amador was a dedicated Mason and a lifelong member of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba, who spent over 40 years serving the Winnipeg community with pride. Known for his warm smile and generous spirit, he touched the lives of many through his involvement in Masonic activities and family gatherings. He was a talented singer that was even on national tv and won a singing competition by singing Ave Maria. He would always sing to us children when we were little. Amador loved the Winnipeg Jets and his celebration with every goal could be heard from miles around!
Amador will be dearly missed by his children Alex, Angélica, Yolanda and Elena. Grandchildren Chantelle, Chanise, Shauna, Joseph, Shayla and Jesse (Alex); Carlos and Éliana (Angélica); Alyssa, Caitlin and Ryleigh (Yolanda) and Rivka, Rachel, Ruth and Benjamin (Elena).
