ANTONIO FODERARO
June 17, 1926 to November 18, 2013
It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and nonno, Antonio (Tony) Foderaro.
Antonio will be remembered by his beloved wife Elena of 58 years, two sons Battista Foderaro and Joe (Anna) Foderaro, one daughter Caterina (Mark) Cordileone, along with cherished grandchildren Anthony, Alaina, Matthew, Justin and Andrew; brothers Francesco (Caterina) Foderaro, Domenico Foderaro of Stoney Creek, Battista (Bianca) Foderaro of Milan; sisters-in-law Angela Foderaro, Ippolita Cefali, Antonetta Bellantonio of Vibo Valentia, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Antonio was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Anna (nee Rumore) Foderaro, brother Tommaso Foderaro, brothers-in-law Pietro Cefali and Guiseppe Bellantonio, sisters-in-law Angela (nee Bucchino) Foderaro, Serafina (late Luigi) Cianflone, Maria (late Fortunato) Muraca, Angela (late Guiseppe) Migliaccio.
Dad was born in Cortale, Catanzaro, Italy and married his beautiful wife Elena in 1955. He knew immediately she was the woman for him. Throughout the years, one could see how much love and affection they had for each other. They honoured their wedding vows every day in every way.
Mom and Dad were only married for a short time when they decided to immigrate to Canada in 1958 to provide a better life for their family.
Dad lived by values such as respect, dedication, integrity, loyalty and honor. He always relied on his moral compass to guide him through life.
Dad was a hard-working man of many skills and talents. His career was with CP Rail, where he retired in 1989. He was fortunate to retire early and focus on his faith, family, gardening, wine making, photography and artistic talents.
Dad believed that family was the cornerstone of life. He always looked forward to family gatherings at beaches and parks throughout the years.
He provided love and emotional support equally to all three of his children throughout their lives. Celebrating milestones provided him great satisfaction, especially those of his grandchildren.
We are proud and blessed to have had you as our father. Your smile and laughter will remain in our hearts forever. Dad - nonno - you will always be loved and never forgotten.
Condolences to the family will take place at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue on Saturday, November 23 at 9:00 a.m. The mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Father Sam Argenziano at 10:00 a.m. The entombment will follow at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley Street.
Pallbearers are Andrew Cordileone, Justin Foderaro, Matthew Foderaro, Anthony Foderaro, Tony Foderaro (Francesco), Domenic Foderaro, Tony Foderaro (Tommaso) and Tony Foderaro (Domenico).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation.
The family would like to extend thanks to all healthcare practitioners who have helped Dad over the years. Special thanks to Dr. Brent Young.
Riposa in pace Papa.
