March 1938 - June 2014
It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Arthur John Imesch, with his family at his side, on Friday, June 6, 2014 at the age of 76.
He will be missed by his loving wife Tillie, children Karen, Kim (Robert) and Louis, brother Robert (Dawn), Aunt Eileen, along with numerous relatives and friends. Art was predeceased by his parents, Doris and Leopold, and sisters Sylvia and Margaret.
Art was born in Squamish, BC, raised in northern Manitoba, and as a young adult moved to Winnipeg where he spent the majority of his life. He was employed by Manitoba Hydro and after retirement in 1993, cherished his part-time employment with Child and Family Services. Art had a knack of telling many stories and jokes, inevitably would laugh the loudest at his own jokes. Dad was always the happiest when surrounded by family and friends. He formed many friendships over the years and felt he was truly blessed to have so many friends and remained close with most of them. Dogs were an important part of his life, particularly "Quincy" was lavished with affection. Dad had a warm, friendly outgoing manner and a giant heart. Even his sense of humour stayed with him until his final hours.
According to Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private gathering will be held a later date.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Singer, and the compassionate staff on the 4th floor of the Victoria General Hospital. A special heartfelt thank you to long-time family friend, Brian Peever for always being there.
If friends so desire, a donation may be made in Dad's memory to a charity of your choice. You will be with us always and our memories of you will be with us all forever. You so deserve to rest in peace.
God, grant me the Serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the Courage to change the things I can,
and Wisdom to know the difference.
