Brian Thomas Albert Kells
April 8, 1936 - June 16, 2022
Beloved father and friend, Brian Kells passed away while in the ICU at the Grace Hospital.
Brian was born in Winnipeg at the Grace Hospital, and is survived by his daughters Madeline Kells and Elaine Docteur (David) nieces and nephews Linda Spurr (James), Bill Fowlis (Leslie), Don Fowlis (Rhesa), and Robert Fowlis. He also cherished the connections he had to his many uncles, aunts, cousins and their families. Brian was predeceased by his wife Eunice Mary Kells (nee Hampton), parents John Henry Davidson Kells and Dora Kathleen English (nee Peterman, Kells), his dear sister Arlene Melba Fowlis (nee Kells), and brother-in-law John McQueen Fowlis.
He was an English and Drama high school teacher by vocation, teaching in Winnipeg first at Silver Heights Collegiate and then at River East Collegiate. Brian was also a talented artist, creative writer and sometimes actor with the Shoestring Players. He enjoyed many years of singing with the Irish Myst Choir and, as everyone who knew him knows, would burst into song at every opportunity. He had a brilliant sense of humour which he shared liberally, and a very compassionate nature.
Brian was so grateful for his many friends and family, and we thank them for their kind wishes and condolences. A small service will be held at Thomson in the Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard on Monday, June 27th, at 1:30 p.m. Cremation will already have taken place. Friends, if they wish, may give in remembrance of him to the charity of their choosing.
Our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at the Grace Hospital for their kind and considerate care.
